In the 70’s Notre Dame High School was under the capable direction of Sister Lucille Corrigan, and was blessed with a well-qualified and dedicated faculty. By this time, Notre Dame High School had gained an excellent reputation among the high schools of the city. By the end of the 70’s, there were over a thousand young women enjoying the advantages of an excellent Catholic secondary school education at Notre Dame High School.
The contribution of the CND Sisters to education in Toronto was recognized formally when the Toronto Metropolitan and Suburban School Board named a new school in Agincourt in honor of their foundress. The Marguerite Bourgeoys Separate School was officially opened and dedicated on April 25, 1977.
In 1978, Sister Greer’s homeroom was transformed into the Notre Dame Chapel, a place for both teachers and students to stop and listen to the still Voice within us in the midst of a busy school community.
“Through all the ‘busy-ness’ of our days and the dreams of our hearts a life-giving meaning flows. Its strength is offered to us each morning by the Scarboro Foreign Mission Fathers as they celebrate Liturgy in our school chapel at eight. It is there all day long as close to us as the prayer we breathe or the person we meet … This ‘meaning’ is Christ, the centre of all we are and do at Notre Dame.” (Lucille Corrigan, CND: The Pearl: November, 1978)

Graduated in 1976… worked a year and then traveled to Italy in 1977. Traveling in Italy and perhaps living in Italy was something I always wanted to do but my Father insisted I complete high school. I have had a few jobs… been working in Tele sales during the last 17 years and loving it.
Grad. class of ’73 I think about high school with very fond memories. Good times. Want to shout out a huge thank you to the staff and fellow classmates. You made my teen years fun and life altering. Greece, Canada vs. Russia Hockey game, band, Sadie Hawkins Dances, Father/Daughter Dances, school sleepovers (levitation), Science classes, setting my sleeve on fire ahahaha, Sr. Fortin, Sr. Corrigan, Gr. 13 “study” room, Sesame Street, Maple Leaf Gardens Rally, New York Band trip, cheering at basket ball games, on and on. Thank you everyone. Hope to see you at our 40th Reunion.
